Marrakech to host the region’s first Ironman 70.3 triathlon in 2019

Morocco is to host for the first time the Ironman 70.3 triathlon on October the 27th, 2019, 220 Triathlon on Thursday.

The sports event will take place in Marrakech and athletes from all over the world will have to pass by several historic landmarks in the city, including the ancient medina, the Bahia Palace, the Madrasa, the Koutoubia mosque, the Jemaa el-Fnaa  Square and the Majorelle Garden, says the same source.

«It is a dream come true that the iconic and internationally acclaimed competition, the Ironman 70.3 triathlon, will be held for the first time in the Maghreb by Morocco», Simo Azelarab, president of NAPECO and event organizer told the same platform.

«Visitors can either immerse themselves in the history of this city through its various monuments, palaces, museums and wonderful gardens or discover its various avant-garde and cosmopolitan places. October in Marrakech is also a month of blissful equilibrium after the heat of the summer, leaving idyllic racing conditions for the athletes», concluded Azelarab.
