Bigger and better than ever before, why not rally together friends, family and colleagues to join the London Night Hike in 2009?

We are seeking 2,000 people to support Maggie’s on an overnight adventure gaining exclusive access to some of the capital’s most incredible architecture. The fifth annual Maggie’s and Open House London Night Hike will take place on Friday 18th September 2009 and we’re aiming for the highest number of walkers yet.

Once again the Opening Party scene will be set outside City Hall with the stunning backdrop of Tower Bridge and the London skyline – you’ll be allocated a start time as due to popular demand for the event, there will be multiple starts for the first time to ease congestion in the early stages of the route.

Your 20 mile late night hike will start with an exclusive night time flight on the London Eye as we unveil the city you’ll be about to discover. Not only will you be treated to exclusive access to old favourites such as the Royal Geographical Society and Horse Guards, you’ll also visit new architectural highlights namely Fulham Palace and Channel 4. With entertainment en route, champagne on the balcony at the IET: Savoy Place to see the sunrise and well-deserved bacon butties (or vegetarian equivalent) at the finishing line this truly unique festival on foot is the best Friday night out in London this Autumn.

Last year, a record 1,500 people took to the streets of London to support Maggie’s walking a brand new route through the capital. More than half a million pounds was raised to support Maggie’s existing network of centres across the UK and participants saw for themselves how vital this support is when they visited the London Maggie’s Centre during the course of their journey.

What is a Maggie's Centre?
A Maggie’s Centre is a place to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer.

Under one roof you can access help with information, benefits advice, psychological support both individually and in groups, courses and stress reducing strategies. You don’t have to make an appointment, or be referred and everything we offer is free of charge.

It is there for anybody who feels the need for help, which includes those who love and look after someone with cancer, who often feel as frightened and vulnerable as those who actually have the disease.

A Maggie’s Centre will be many things to many people. It is there for anybody to use in the way they want to. There isn’t a one size fits all recipe for how you live with cancer. Everybody needs to find their own way.

The job of the professionals at Maggie’s is to listen to you, to help you find out what you want and give you the tools to help yourself.
