Tourists killed in Morocco bus crash 16:05, Mar 29 2005

RABAT (Reuters) - Seven foreign tourists, most of them French, have been killed after a bus packed with tourists collided with a car in southern Morocco, authorities say.

Civil rescue officials said on Tuesday between five and seven dead were French, although two may be of British nationality.

A doctor at a hospital in the Taroudant province where the crash occurred said that 10 other tourists were seriously injured.

"Those injured in the crash are being airlifted to us," the doctor, who asked not to be named, told Reuters.

The French tourists were travelling in a bus when it crashed into a four-wheel-drive car in the Taroudant province, 700 km (440 miles) south of the capital.

Road accidents in Morocco kill on average 11 people a day and are caused mainly by reckless driving and a poor roads.
