54.1.اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ

54.1. L'Heure du Jugement dernier approche et la Lune se fend !

54.1 . The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain .

54.1. Iqtarabati alssaAAatu wainshaqqa alqamaru

54.2.وَإِن يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ

54.2. Mais, chaque fois qu'un miracle se produit sous leurs yeux, les impies s'en détournent en disant : «C'est la magie qui continue !»

54.2 . And if they behold a portent they turn away and say : Prolonged illusion .

54.2. Wa-in yaraw ayatan yuAAridoo wayaqooloo sihrun mustamirrun

54.3.وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءهُمْ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ

54.3. Et ils crient à l'imposture pour suivre leurs propres impulsions. Mais toute chose arrivera à son terme.

54.3 . They denied ( the Truth ) and followed their own lusts . Yet everything will come to a decision

54.3. Wakaththaboo waittabaAAoo ahwaahum wakullu amrin mustaqirrun

54.4.وَلَقَدْ جَاءهُم مِّنَ الْأَنبَاء مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ

54.4. On leur a pourtant fait parvenir des récits de nature à les mettre en garde,

54.4 . And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter ,

54.4. Walaqad jaahum mina al-anba-i ma feehi muzdajarun

54.5.حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ

54.5. de par la haute sagesse qu'ils recèlent. Mais, hélas ! Tous ces avertissements sont demeurés sans effet sur eux.

54.5 . Effective wisdom ; but warnings avail not .
