4.153 . The People of the Scripture ask of thee that thou shouldst cause an ( actual ) Book to descend upon them from heaven . They asked a greater thing of Moses aforetime , for they said : Show us Allah plainly . The storm of lightning seized them for their wickedness . Then ( even after that ) they chose the calf ( for worship ) after clear proofs ( of Allah ' s Sovereignty ) had come unto them . And We forgave them that! And We bestowed on Moses evident authority .

4.153.يَسْأَلُكَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَن تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَاباً مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ فَقَدْ سَأَلُواْ مُوسَى أَكْبَرَ مِن ذَلِكَ فَقَالُواْ أَرِنَا اللّهِ جَهْرَةً فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُواْ الْعِجْلَ مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَن ذَلِكَ وَآتَيْنَا مُوسَى سُلْطَاناً مُّبِيناً

4.153. Les gens des Écritures insistent pour que tu fasses descendre à leur intention un Livre du Ciel ! N'avaient-ils pas demandé à Moïse bien plus encore quand ils lui avaient dit : «Fais-nous voir Dieu face à face !»? Aussi furent-ils frappés par la foudre en punition de tant d'insolence. Puis ils se mirent à adorer le Veau d'or , en dépit des preuves évidentes qu'ils avaient reçues. Nous leur pardonnâmes cependant leurs erreurs et Nous dotâmes Moïse d'une autorité certaine.

4.153. "Das Volk der Schrift verlangt von dir, daß du ein Buch vom Himmel zu ihnen herabgelangen lassest. Aber von Moses forderten sie etwas Größeres als dies, da sie sagten: ""Zeig uns Allah offensichtlich!"" Da ereilte sie vernichtende Strafe ob ihres Frevels. Dann nahmen sie sich das Kalb, nachdem ihnen doch deutliche Zeichen zuteil geworden waren, aber Wir vergaben sogar das. Und Wir verliehen Moses offenbare Gewalt."

4.153. Yas-aluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzila AAalayhim kitaban mina alssama-i faqad saaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arina Allaha jahratan faakhathat-humu alssaAAiqatu bithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla min baAAdi ma jaat-humu albayyinatu faAAafawna AAan thalika waatayna moosa sultanan mubeenan

4.153. " La gente de la Escritura te pide que les bajes del cielo una Escritura. Ya habían pedido a Moisés algo más grave que eso, cuando dijeron: ""¡Muéstranos a Alá claramente!"" Como castigo a su impiedad el Rayo se los llevó. Luego, cogieron el ternero, aun después de haber recibido las pruebas claras. Se lo perdonamos y dimos a Moisés una autoridad manifiesta. "

4.153. "La gente della Scrittura pretende che tu faccia scendere un Libro dal cielo. A Mosè chiesero qualcosa ancora più enorme, quando gli dissero:"" Facci vedere Allah apertamente"". 4."153. De mensen van het Boek vragen u een Boek uit de hemel op hen te doen nederdalen. Zij vroegen Mozes meer dan dit, zij zeiden: ""Toon ons Allah openlijk."" Toen trof hen de bliksem wegens hun overtreding. Daarna, hoewel duidelijke tekenen tot hen gekomen waren, namen zij toch het (gouden) kalf (ter aanbidding) aan, doch Wij vergaven hun dat. En Wij bekleedden Mozes met duidelijk gezag."
